For the first time I have made one  talk about test me!

Words of wisdom make sure you have items on hand to hold walls and the roof up while it sets or you may find yourself swearing rather loudly

And while I am at it

From pettiskirts to yarn swaps

•14 December, 2009 • 2 Comments

I have been rather busy the last couple of weeks here is a sample of what I have been up to :)

Pettiskirt! for Nina for her Uncle and Aunty’s wedding. I used lostinstash tut. Thanks so much for taking the time to write it up Leah :D

Most say these are hard to make. I didn’t find it hard at all just damn fiddly! each laying I ended up hand tacking to the other as the pins would jus slip out. And YAY for ruffler feet for sewing machines!  would you believe there is 75metres!!! of ruffled fabric there just in the ruffle! ( and I still have enough to make another skirt!!! )

Xmas Yarn Swap on TNN

I had only done one other yarn swap on TNN so decided to do this one :D

here is my swap

The idea was what xmas means to you.

Well one day I would love to have xmas with snow!

So my theme was “let it snow”

*4ply sock yarn knitted into a blank and hand dyed

*Reciepe for snowflake cookies

*hand beaded snowflake for the xmas tree

*Hand dyed and made chocolates

*Hand painted PUL nappy cut

Um next some knitting

A Tropical Lily for Nina

Knitted out of anchor Magicline 10ply cotton

A few other bits and bobs

The “pink and purple” cupcakes I was asked by my niece to make for her bithday

Some xmas cupcakes I made also

and this is my first go at felting :) it was fun must pull the bits out again and have another play

These are xmas pressies for my Nieces.

Box toilet bags both have PUL in the centre layer between the fabric so any spills should be contained :) not that easy sewing the 3 layers together

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd 13 tiny xmas stockings one for each of Seth’s preschool teachers! they are yet to be given these and the rest of the pressie :D next week I will show the whole thing

And because I don’t think the the people receiving this will look here for a month :P due to being on holiday for a month back here in NZ ;)

For the xmas tree in the USA!  A kiwi flavour stocking with sliver fern :D

And lastly this wee beauty! which was dyed by myself and the lovely Leah who was down my way just over a week ago and wanted to meet YAY! we had fun doing this sock blank up :D it should work out as self stripping :D

I will be auctioning this off to help raise funds for dear wee Aria she has just flown to the states for a transplant. They are still short on funds to stay over there due to not being able to work.

This will be auctioned off probably after xmas we people have recovered a bit from xmas on TNN

I can finally blog about it!

This wee beauty I made back in July since it is finally in its new owners hands :)

My second big piece of lace work :) all hand dyed by me :)

Gail (aka Nightsongs)

MaweLucky

Honestly I didn’t even look at the charts for it as my awesome friend Kelly has made up some “uncharts” Many have complained about the charts not being right for some reason

So here we go the Shawl/Scarf for the Northlander who returned to her home shores ;)

Sorry this one is a bit blurry

I will knit another and next time I think I will do some beading on it :)

Much needed update

I have been busy, clearly too busy to keep up here ( or my kids blogs sorry Betsey and Cayne  )

To start I sat down with my niece and Seth and this is what Seth came up with :) one over the moon mummy that he sat for that long and finished it! can’t wait to hang it on the xmas tree :)

More Xmas decorations. Some buntings :)

A sock blank for me to play with :D ( I sold all the others I had very quickly! no more till the lovely Morag at Vintage Purls get some more nakey yarn in )

am saving doing this till the lovely Leah is down :)

Head in a spin!

Well I have been given 2 knitting machine on long long long term loan and I have been learning and playing

The blues didn’t come out  :( I think I used to much liquid and at sort of ran into one another  but the end result still something to be played with :D maybe a shawl :) see if I can make myself knit another Revontuli-huivi/Northern Lights

In other news the socks I am still working on are a PITA! I knitted almost a whole sock to discover my gauge was way way out gaah! reknitted the sock in 2.5mm needles one sock done but it is extremely hard to get over my heel :( do I frog again and knit something I will love? helllllllp

Shorts made with cotton knit fabric and cotton ribbing :D

Another ottobre top :D the overlocker didn’t like trying to overlock the start of these  so I ended up putting a piece of thread through each end and pulling it through the machine which worked beautifully :D

Close up of the sleeves

Some no clothing sewing but fun dress up sewing

Seth came home and saw Ninas so it resulted in this

Sorry not the best picture I used Leah’s tut from Lost in a Stash to make them

Now for something I made a while back and sold alot of

box knitting project bags :D

and some knitting

This is

Revontuli-huivi/Northern Lights

It was a painful knit I was very glad to see the back of it

I had dyed this yarn a pink/orange to start with. I was gifting this to DH’s Nan and she like burgundy so I dyed it as best I could that colour :D

I do have to share this

The night before I had held a knitting night here, the girls from Tauranga who are members on “the Nappy Network” get together each week for a knitting, dessert and chat evening :D I had told Seth about this, and he wanted to learn to knit so he can stay up  Seth busy knitting

I know since I last posted I haven’t done the one item per day  but Nina has plenty of tops hiding in her draws :D and I have a new toy to play with watch this space!

~Sewing bug has hit~

•12 October, 2009 • 3 Comments

So the story goes along the lines of Nina needs clothes, she just had her 1st birthday and her Grandma, Grandad and Great Nana Curly gave her some $$ so mummy could go shopping well um since when did size 1 shorts cost $20 *faint* Scotty can buy a pair of man size jeans for that damn price!

So I visited the fabric shop to see what I could find

Mission sew a clothing item a day this is the start of Ninas summer gear :D

All of these bar the smocket and shorts are from my ottobre mags

Sorry not the best photo 2 dresses, 2 pairs of shorts a smocket and a envelope neck top :D

Hand painted  I was going to try a cupcake but yeah I am not a good freehand artist at all

Details on the front of the shorts so one daddy and possibly mummy knows where the front is

And the pink dress needed something not sure I am 100% happy with it but meh its done

In other news a very talent friend is having give aways on her blog each monday hop on over and check her inspiring blog out :D

Socks and pretty girl dresses :)

Well after the effort in trying to work out what half the pattern meant ( not written in what I would call standard sock pattern format or language)

I proudly present the size 13

Vihtori socks

Yes I love my hubby  esp enough to knit socks that long

I knitted these out of the Nightingale back ground colour from Vintage Purls winter sock club. The sock was just a bit to much for me to bite off but one day I will try them since I have the pattern and all

I notice in the photo too that they should really be on the other feet so the winding cable goes on the outside of the socks  Scotty refuses to wear them to work  ok so they might be a bit hot to wear screaming around the kitchen and standing in front of the grill but surely he can wear them out the front to flash to our regular customers and show them off for me  :P

A little something for Nina :)

A dear friend of mine made one of these for Nina as a NB gift and I LOVE it!

I had yarn to match this fabric left over from my nieces xmas pressies

This is a Summerlin Dress

Birthday Pressie

•23 September, 2009 • 3 Comments

For my niece Zarha. Her birthday isn’t until Nov

(Adelle don’t show Zarha if she is around while you are looking! :P )

but

I had all items on hand, bar the handles a whole $2 to buy those and the butterfly was $1.50 so $3.50 all up. Seth wasn’t too impressed that his fav jeans ( yip knees worn through) had been cut up. But was happy enough to pose with the bag  excuse the odd look on his face

Check out my cutie!

Birthday outfit FINISHED YAY!

Both the pants and top are from my ottobre mags. THe pants are from issue 3/2007 and I can’t remember off hand which one the top was from :D I fell in love with this fabric when a friend Tash made Nina a cute wee summerlin dress with it. I managed to find it in spotlight in Whangarei while up there earlier this year

Here is my little poser :D

Another pair of socks

•15 September, 2009 • 3 Comments

Hot off the needles for me :)

Once again the awesome, lovely Christines pattern and using some of the yarn I got from Morag and dyed myself. I love the pattern the lacing itself you only have to remember 3 rows as the rest are knit rows :D

My very dear friend Christine wrote this pattern and finally I completed a pair :D these are for another friend Ali, who was a honey and let us use her hammock stand for Nina’s hammock and now over a year since we stole it away from her I should really return it with a wee something :D

This last photo is more true to the colour :D some Vintage Purls birthday suit yarn that I dyed up :D

And more socks :P these are the last of the Vintage Purls Winter Sock Club socks.
